Frequently Asked Questions

We are a cash-based clinic, which means we do not directly bill insurance. This allows us to provide longer, one-on-one sessions without the restrictions of insurance limitations. However, we’re happy to provide you with a detailed invoice (called a “superbill”) that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

We specialize in:

  • TMJ dysfunction (TMD)
  • Jaw pain, clicking, or locking
  • Neck pain and stiffness
  • Facial tension or headaches
  • Post-jaw surgery rehabilitation
  • Swallowing issues related to jaw or neck mechanics
  • Restrictions secondary to submucosal fibrosis
  • Restrictions secondary to radiation post head/neck cancers

If you're unsure whether we can help, reach out — we're happy to talk through your symptoms.

In the state of Georgia, you do not need a referral from a doctor to begin physical therapy. You can schedule directly with us. However, if you plan to seek insurance reimbursement, your provider may require a referral — we can help you navigate that process.

If you are interested in dry needling, we will consult with your referring dentist or primary care provider, so be sure you have your referring dentist or primary care physician on file.

Your first session will include a detailed evaluation of your jaw, neck, posture, and movement patterns. We’ll also review your health history and symptoms. Then, you’ll receive hands-on treatment and leave with a personalized home plan. Every Initial Evaluation is 1-on-1 and is typically 50-60 minutes.  Follow-up sessions are also 1-on-1 and typically last 45-55 minutes.

Wear something comfortable and loose-fitting — ideally something that allows access to your neck, upper back, and jaw area (e.g., a t-shirt or tank top). No special gym clothes are required.

It depends on your condition and goals. Some patients feel noticeable relief after just 2–3 visits, while others benefit from a longer plan to address deeper dysfunctions. After your evaluation, we’ll give you a clear, personalized treatment recommendation.

Yes! Many TMJ symptoms stem from muscular tightness, joint misalignment, or movement dysfunction — all of which physical therapy is highly effective at addressing. We focus on relieving pain, improving jaw mechanics, and preventing flare-ups with hands-on care and targeted exercises.

For more severe cases, such as trauma, radiation fibrosis, etc, we have also had success in restoring flexibility of the connective and muscle tissue of the face, jaw and neck.  Because these cases vary considerably, feel free to discuss your case with us for more insight.

Yes. We regularly treat teens and young adults who experience TMJ dysfunction due to orthodontic work, teeth grinding, stress, or injury. We adjust our approach based on age and comfort.
